I've seen this with another clan. One account, everyone knows the pass, and we work him up to the perfect char. Everyone can play him, but we agree on skills in advance.
What do you think ?
Saty
I think this is not as easy as it sounds. First of all, I still think a character is something personal, with which you have a certain bond. With a character of this kind, I would feel no bond at all !
This looks like the perfect definition of powerplay, and since I do not want to have anything to do with powerplay, I say no !
Why are you all so desperate to reach level 99 ?

What do you mean with "powerplay" ? I don't know the term.
Saty
Powerplay is a term frequently used in tabletop rpg's. It means playing a character with the main goal to get the character as powerfull as possible in an as fast as possible way by using all necessary means, except cheating, instead of playing a character with the main goal of having a lot of fun due to lots of roleplay !
I know, diabloII is actually not a true roleplaying game, but it has many ingredients.

i have to agree with Brati but with other reasons
i allready have tooooo many characters around lvl 30 and higher that don't get played often anymore due to lack of time etc. Creating a char for the entire guild would diminish my time even further from playing my personal characters.
I think i know where you got this idea from Saty, but I also think i know where that character is now ...
Some people did this on the telenet diablo forum. Last news i read about it was that it sure wasn't going as they planned (actually, they didn't plan anything ...)
As for not doing it, nobody holds you back to get it started. Initiatives are always welcomed
Maybe some of the other people here who play diablo are interested to give a hand.
As for the powerplay aspect, that's not realy needed Brat. There are several alternative characters outthere to play. I'll try to get a few descriptions rounded up tonight(probably after the football). To give an example, a ranger: not a class that you can choose but this is what it basically is: a Paladin who only uses a bow as a weapon. It's clear that he'll never be as powerfull with a bow as an amazon, but you'll just have to adapt your playtactics and use the skills available to a paladin only. Anyway, it's just an example.
Another thing you mentioned was: "why so desperate to reach lvl 99 ..."
Well, some items can never be obtained unless you're lvl 99. Has something to do with item types that are bound at your characterlevel before they can even drop and such, don't know the exact details.
Small example, you'll never be able to find an elite item before level 41 i think (don't shoot me if i'm wrong here, it's a wild guess...) but just to give you an idea of what i meant.
Maybe this is some form of powerplay but you also might look at it as the treasurehunters way. Just like in ad&d, you can dream of certain items at lower levels but you most likely will have to get a whole lot better in order to ever have a chance of actually owning it ...
And then ofcourse there's the lack of time
I still have several characters that i still have to "develop further". Not all my characters are in the database yet. I have several more mid-range characters (lvl 20-35) for which i have/had a few things in mind to try out and see how far i could go with them.
Damm, i'm typing way to much already, i'd better get back to work ...
